Job summary

Duke Energy Corporation is seeking Nuclear Engineers to join the Instrumentation & Control Design Engineering team at Oconee Nuclear Station. The role involves developing and delivering solutions for modifications across instrumentation, control, power systems, and cybersecurity domains to support operation into the 2050s.

Senior candidates will manage non-routine work with minimal supervision and mentor others, while both levels require strong technical judgment and commitment to nuclear safety

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
• Minimum of 4 years of engineering experience.
• 1 year of nuclear power plant experience.
• State registration as a Professional Engineer is preferred for Senior Nuclear Engineer.
• A Master’s degree in engineering will be considered in lieu of the B.S. degree.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering and technical expertise in identifying, analyzing, and resolving problems of increasing scope and complexity.
• Plan, organize, estimate, schedule, coordinate, and monitor assigned engineering work with changing priorities.
• Prepare calculations, specifications, drawings, design inputs, evaluations, and test plans.
• Evaluate design alternatives, technical risk, and lifecycle needs; document clear recommendations.
• Develop conceptual designs and coordinate work by vendors and external firms.
• When qualified, serve as the Responsible Engineer for modifications from design through closeout.
