Job summary

Duke Energy Corporation seeks a Fire Protection Engineer at the Oconee Nuclear Station, eligible for Engineer III or Senior Engineer based on experience. The role also supports other nuclear plants within the fleet as needed.

The incumbent will ensure NFPA/regulatory compliance, provide field support, participate in Fire PRAs and inspections, and respond to operating experience. Hybrid work expectations apply with occasional travel.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree required.
• Master's degree may substitute for bachelor's.
• Minimum 4 years engineering experience; 6 years for Senior Engineer.
• 1 year of nuclear power plant experience required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as fire protection SME ensuring NFPA and regulatory compliance.
• Provide engineering and field support to identify and resolve issues.
• Support Fire PRAs, NSCA updates, surveillance testing, and calculations.
• Prepare for NRC/INPO/NEIL/NSRB/NOS inspections and audits.
• Monitor system performance and respond to operating experience.
