Job summary

Valar Atomics is seeking Principal Nuclear I&C Engineers to own the technical direction of nuclear instrumentation plant design for our high-temperature gas-cooled reactor program. You will define the reactor measurement architecture and strategy, and you will hold final technical approval within the discipline for safety-significant instrumentation designs.

You will lead the engineering capability buildup, mentor staff, and steward regulatory engagements to enable the next phase of plant

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nuclear, Electrical, Computer, or Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in nuclear instrumentation, radiation detection, or reactor I&C.
• Ownership of instrumentation scope across multiple programs, including end-to-end through qualification and deployment.
• Architecture-level technical leadership: defining measurement strategy and instrumentation architecture.
• Experience with safety-related instrumentation design approvals, analyses, and regulator interactions.

Responsibilities

• Define reactor measurement architecture across startup, intermediate, and power ranges.
• Own the discipline's design basis and qualification program bases.
• Lead technology/vendor evaluation for detectors and sensors.
• Own standards program within assigned domains and ensure conformance.
• Represent instrumentation in licensing engagements and regulatory interactions.
