Job summary

Sargent & Lundy seeks a mid-level component qualification engineer to support nuclear power plant projects, focusing on seismic qualification, structural analysis, and ASME code calculations. You will collaborate with multi-discipline teams, review design calculations, and support vendor qualification, with travel potential to client sites for reviews and field verification.

Demonstrated experience in structural mechanics and FEA tools is required; ABET-accredited BS, 5+ years in component

Qualifications

ABET-accredited BS in Structural or Mechanical Engineering required.
5+ years in component qualification in nuclear power plant industry.
Proficiency with structural mechanics analysis using Mathcad.
Experience with FEA software (SAP2000, ANSYS, STAAD, STRUDL) is required.
Familiarity with design codes (AISC, AISI, ASCE, ANSI, ASTM) and IEEE/Regulatory Guides.
Proficiency with MS Office and strong written/verbal communication.

Responsibilities

Perform structural analysis and design of components, loads, and seismic effects.
Review calculations and vendor qualification reports; develop specifications and design basis docs.
Support designers with drawings and field verification; collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams.
Travel to client/vendor offices or plant sites as needed for reviews and coordination.
