Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a mid-level engineer for component qualification activities in the nuclear power sector. You will collaborate with a team of engineers, interface with other disciplines, and guide junior staff on diverse projects including new facilities and upgrades.

You will apply seismic qualification methods, perform structural analyses, review test reports, and support design documentation. Occasional travel to client sites may be required.

Qualifications

• BS in engineering with ABET accreditation.
• 5+ years in component qualification for nuclear power plants.
• Proficiency with structural mechanics analysis (Mathcad).
• Experience with SAP2000, ANSYS, STAAD, and STRUDL.
• Familiar with AISC, AISI, ASCE, ANSI and ASTM codes.
• Familiar with Regulatory Guides and IEEE Seismic standards.
• Proficient in MS Office.
• Strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Apply knowledge of seismic qualification and ASME codes.
• Prepare and review design calculations; review qualification reports; develop specs; support drawings development.
• Perform structural analysis of steel panels, foundations, and supports with seismic effects.
• Perform seismic qualification reviews including analysis of seismic test reports.
• Travel to client/vendor offices and plant sites as needed.
