Job summary

Teal Drones seeks a Sr. NPI Manufacturing Engineer in Salt Lake City, UT to lead new UAV program introductions from concept through full-rate production.

You will own manufacturing readiness, drive DFM/DFA/DFT with design teams, and implement robust processes, tooling, and automation for scalable, cost-effective production. The role requires deep aerospace manufacturing experience, proficiency with CAD/ERP/MRP systems, PFMEA and SPC, and leadership across cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing/Mechanical/Industrial Engineering or related field.
• 7–12+ years of experience in aerospace manufacturing engineering with NPI focus.
• Experience leading EVT, DVT, PVT and production ramp.
• Strong knowledge of DFM/DFA/DFT, CAD and manufacturing systems.
• Experience implementing PFMEA, control plans and SPC.

Responsibilities

• Lead NPI from concept through production ramp (EVT–LRIP).
• Own manufacturing readiness: processes, tooling, docs and training.
• Drive DFM/DFA/DFT reviews with design engineering for scalable, cost-effective designs.
• Develop, validate and implement manufacturing/test processes for new UAV systems.
• Design, procure and validate jigs, fixtures, tooling and automation.
• Serve as primary manufacturing contact for new product programs across teams.
• Support prototype builds and ramp by troubleshooting, reducing variability, improving yield.
• Lead root cause analyses and corrective actions during NPI phases.
• Maintain manufacturing docs: work instructions, SOPs, PFMEAs, control plans, build plans.
• Apply Lean principles (5S, value stream mapping, standard work, Kaizen).
• Perform time studies, capacity planning and cost analysis for scalability.
• Introduce automation and Industry 4.0 into new product lines.
• Ensure compliance with AS9100, ITAR/EAR and other aerospace standards.
