Job summary

Senior Mechanical Engineer - Unmanned Aircraft Systems in Utah, on-site, permanent role. You will take a practical, hands-on approach to designing UAV structures, from concept through testing to production, on quadcopter and fixed-wing platforms.

The role involves developing parts in SolidWorks, creating manufacturing drawings with GD&T, and supporting NPI as designs mature toward production. You’ll apply DFM principles across machining, molding and composites, while maintaining design records

Qualifications

• Five+ years hands-on SolidWorks experience on UAV components.
• Experience developing UAVs, quadcopter or fixed-wing preferred.
• Strong skills in mechanical design, drawings and GD&T.
• Proven ability to take parts from prototype to production.
• Practical understanding of machining, molding and composites.

Responsibilities

• Develop UAV parts, structures and assemblies in SolidWorks.
• Create manufacturing drawings and GD&T documentation.
• Support NPI and progression of designs to production.
• Apply DFM to machined, injection-molded and composite parts.
• Manage design revisions and engineering records.
• Evaluate design trade-offs including thermal and vibration needs.
• Participate in design reviews and cross-disciplinary problem solving.
• Collaborate with team across mechanical, electrical and manufacturing domains.
