Job summary

Amazon Kuiper Manufacturing Enterprises LLC seeks a Harnessing Engineer to conceptualize, design, procure, test and support integration of wiring harnesses across the satellite system. The role enables reliable electrical functionality for a global broadband constellation.

Responsibilities include interfacing mechanical, electrical and payload teams, supporting make vs buy decisions, and delivering detailed harness specs, qualification and installation drawings for flight hardware.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of hardware design and validation experience across components, subsystems and systems
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, materials science, physics or equivalent
  • Knowledge of hardware/software integration and real-time systems

Responsibilities

  • Harness design for satellite system interfacing mechanical, electrical and payload owners to optimize reliability, manufacturability, test, integration and cost.
  • Support make vs buy decisions, design reviews, and implement manufacturing and integration plans for high-rate production.
  • Engage component suppliers and harness manufacturing vendors for component and assembly qualification.
  • Design and develop specifications and procure power/data harnesses meeting electrical design requirements (current rating, power loss, shielding, grounding, EMI/EMC).
  • Perform/oversee harness qualification and acceptance tests for launch environments and mission life, including fixture fabrication for prototypes.
  • Create 3D CAD routings, 2D drawings, schematics and installation drawings.
