Job summary

World Business Lenders is seeking a Senior Credit Underwriter to lead complex credit underwriting for non-QM mortgage lending. You will evaluate borrower scenarios, structure credit solutions, and guide decisions for risk and profitability.

In addition to underwriting, you will mentor underwriters, oversee teams, and drive process improvements to raise credit quality and loan throughput. This remote role operates on EST hours, Mon-Fri.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive underwriting experience in non-QM residential mortgage lending.
• Expertise in credit analysis, risk assessment, and loan structuring.
• Strong knowledge of Non-QM loan products (DSCR, Bank Statement, Asset Depletion, Foreign National, ITIN, and other documentation).
• Experience interpreting credit policies, guidelines, and regulations (ATR/QM, TRID, RESPA, TILA).

Responsibilities

• Act as the Chief Lending Officer's trusted advisor.
• Perform early credit assessments before processing.
• Rework denied loans into approvable structures where possible.
• Recommend counteroffers that balance risk and profitability.
• Identify compensating factors to strengthen borderline files.
• Consult with Sales on structuring loans before submission.
• Participate in daily pipeline review meetings.
• Develop underwriting guidelines and SOPs.
• Analyze trends in denials to suggest policy changes.
• Support automation by documenting underwriting logic.
• Serve as SME for complex borrower scenarios.
