Job summary

International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) seeks an experienced Night Shift Building Construction Inspector to support major building and civil projects in Washington, DC. You’ll serve as a field representative, monitoring activities to ensure safety, quality, and adherence to plans and codes.

The role requires 10+ years of inspection experience, strong independent night-shift work capability, and proficiency with documenting field activities and reports.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of construction inspection experience involving buildings, civil infrastructure, or public works.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specs, and contract documents.
• Experience preparing detailed field inspection reports and documenting activities.
• Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements and industry best practices.

Responsibilities

• Perform field inspections of nighttime construction activities.
• Verify contractor compliance with plans, specifications, permits, codes, and contract requirements.
• Monitor workmanship, materials, installation methods, and construction practices.
• Inspect earthwork, paving, utilities, structures, maintenance of traffic, and related civil infrastructure.
• Identify and document deficiencies, non-conforming work, and corrective actions.
• Coordinate and witness field testing by laboratories and specialty consultants.
• Review material certifications, test reports, and inspection documentation.
• Prepare detailed daily inspection reports and maintain electronic project records.
• Document contractor manpower, equipment, quantities, weather conditions, progress, and field observations.
• Maintain photographic records of construction activities and milestones.
• Monitor compliance with OSHA requirements and project-specific safety procedures.
• Promote a strong safety and quality culture in the field.
