This role requires independent work during nighttime operations, with a strong focus on field inspection, contractor coordination, quality assurance, documentation, and construction safety.

You will work to ensure work complies with plans, specs, permits, codes, and contract documents, documenting findings daily.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of construction inspection experience in buildings or civil infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Perform field inspections of nighttime construction activities.
• Verify contractor compliance with plans, specs, permits, codes, and contract requirements.
• Monitor workmanship, materials, installation methods, and construction practices.
• Inspect earthwork, paving, utilities, structures, maintenance of traffic, and related civil infrastructure.
• Identify and document deficiencies, non-conforming work, and corrective actions.
• Coordinate and witness field testing performed by laboratories and specialty consultants.
• Review material certifications, test reports, and inspection documentation.
• Prepare detailed daily inspection reports and maintain electronic project records.
• Document contractor manpower, equipment, quantities, weather conditions, progress, and field observations.
• Maintain photographic records of construction activities and milestones.
• Monitor OSHA compliance and project safety procedures.
• Promote a strong safety and quality culture in the field.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Night Shift Building Construction Inspector to support major building and civil construction projects in Washington, DC.

This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned construction inspector who is comfortable working independently during nighttime construction operations and has a strong background in field inspection, contractor coordination, quality assurance, documentation, and construction safety.

In this role, you will serve as a field representative, monitoring construction activities to ensure work is completed safely, correctly, and in accordance with approved plans, specifications, contract documents, and applicable regulations.

$50–$60/hour | Weekly Pay | Benefits Offered

Monday–Thursday | 7:30 PM–6:00 AM | 40 hours/week

Contract through October 1, 2028 | Potential Temp-to-Perm Opportunity

What You'll Do

What We're Looking For

Required:

• High school diploma or GED.
• 10+ years of construction inspection experience involving buildings, civil infrastructure, or public works.
• Demonstrated experience working independently on night shift construction operations.
• Strong ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and contract documents.
• Experience preparing detailed field inspection reports and documenting construction activities.
• Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements and construction industry best practices.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic project documentation systems.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project locations.
• Ability to work outdoors and navigate active construction sites, including uneven terrain and ladders.

Preferred:

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Experience with agency/client electronic field reporting systems.
