Job summary

Cisco in San Francisco is seeking a Hardware Systems Engineer to help design next-generation network switches and power-over-Ethernet solutions. You will own hardware bring-up, debugging, and collaborate with software teams to port and validate system performance.

Join a cross-functional team focused on scalable design validation, production readiness, and collaboration with ODM/JDM partners to bring products to market.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer engineering with 7 years, or Master’s degree with 4 years of Networking equipment Hardware design experience.
• Experience with multi-gigabit Ethernet and PoE technology.
• Experience with schematics/layout, hardware bring-up, troubleshooting, system testing.
• Experience collaborating with software teams on system bring-up and device configuration (registers level).

Responsibilities

• Specify technical product documentation and lead reviews.
• Architect system block diagrams with major Networking ASIC suppliers.
• Design Networking Switches, review schematics/layout, bring-up, troubleshooting, and build yield bring-up with ODM/JDM partners.
• Collaborate with product management and Software platform teams to develop next generation product definition.
• Triage, debug, and root cause major customer issues during sustaining stage.
