Job summary

Cisco Systems, based in San Jose, is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineering Technical Leader for onsite hardware development. You will shape mechanical architectures for high-speed switching hardware, collaborating with silicon, thermal, and board-layout engineers to meet performance and manufacturability requirements.

You will verify designs through prototypes, lead technical reviews, and drive manufacturing readiness across supplier and internal teams, ensuring robust, cost-effective

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or higher with years of related experience (8+ for BS, 6+ for MS, 3+ for PhD)
• Experience designing and integrating mechanical assemblies for electronic hardware
• Expertise in mechanical CAD for developing part and assembly models
• Experience creating engineering drawings and performing tolerance analysis
• Experience leading mechanical design decisions across engineering teams

Responsibilities

• Define mechanical architectures and interface requirements translating product requirements into concepts and specs
• Lead mechanical design decisions and technical reviews with silicon, signal integrity, power, board-layout, electronics, and thermal engineers
• Verify designs through prototypes and testing, investigate failures and root causes, implement changes
• Develop CAD models, drawings, and tolerance analyses for interfaces and assembly fit
• Deliver manufacturable designs and coordinate with suppliers to resolve fabrication and cost issues
