Amazon Web Services, Inc. in Cupertino is seeking an experienced hardware engineer to help design our next generation Ethernet switching platforms for AWS datacenters.

The role emphasizes high-speed, modular chassis based networking systems and partnering with ODM/JDM vendors. You will lead architectural definition, component selection, timing, thermal and EMC analysis, and work with cross‑functional teams to bring designs from concept to production.

Qualifications

• Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures.
• BSEE with 10+ years experience in hardware board and systems development (concept to mass production) and 5+ years in Ethernet fabrics, PHY/SerDes, embedded CPU subsystems, memory design, and network processors.
• Experience with high-speed PCB design and CPLD/FPGA design using VHDL or Verilog.
• Experience troubleshooting with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and PCI analyzers or emulators.
• Experience interfacing with cross functional teams and external vendors/developers.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of Ethernet switching platforms for AWS datacenters.
• Define architecture, select key components, and drive timing, thermal, and EMC analyses.
• Collaborate with Asian ODM/JDM partners in development and manufacturing.
• Guide transition from concept to mass production and ensure manufacturability.
