Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Network Systems Engineer to support a Federal Program located at Pearl Harbor, HI. The role focuses on sustaining a large-scale enterprise network with LAN/WAN/WLAN expertise, boundary engineering, routing, switching, security, and Tier III troubleshooting.

The ideal candidate will bring DoD experience, active clearance, and hands-on skills with Arista and Cisco ecosystems, SAFe/JIRA, and automation tools such as Ansible and Python.

Qualifications

• Active Secret Security Clearance
• DoD 8570.01 IAT Level III certification (such as CASP+, CISSP, CCNP Security)
• A recognized network vendor certification, such as Cisco CCNA, CCNP, or CCIE
• Subject Matter Expertise in BAN/LAN/WAN/WLAN and Network Boundary engineering
• Extensive experience performing highly technical network maintenance, configuration, troubleshooting, and engineering activities
• Experience providing Tier III escalation support in large-scale enterprise environments
• Experience supporting networks of comparable scale to 16,000+ devices across 450+ locations
• Experience with SAFe Agile methodologies and JIRA
• Hands-on experience with automation tools such as Ansible and Python
• Experience with Arista networking technologies
• Advanced Cisco networking certifications (CCNP/CCIE) desirable

Responsibilities

• Lead efforts to identify, troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve complex network issues in a dynamic enterprise environment.
• Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot network infrastructure including switches, routers, VLANs, WLAN APs, firewalls, and sensors.
• Provide engineering expertise and operational support for a large intranet environment.
• Serve as a Tier III escalation resource for complex incidents, coordinating with vendors as necessary.
• Serve as an SME and backstop for troubleshooting across multiple network disciplines.
• Troubleshoot routing, switching, SD-WAN, WLAN, MPLS, VPNs, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, and multicast.
• Develop and maintain Engineering Implementation Plans (EIPs) for network changes.
• Create and manage change tickets for deployments, maintenance, upgrades.
• Conduct Root Cause Analysis for problem management.
• Participate in engineering, architecture, and project meetings to design future solutions.
• Track work within Agile/SAFe using JIRA.
• Participate in DSUs, retrospectives, PI activities, Agile ceremonies.
• Lab Testing & Pre-Production Validation for firmware upgrades.
