Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Principal Site Reliability Engineer - Network to architect, build, and support scalable network infrastructure across Akamai Connected Cloud.

The role partners with software development, operations, and Compute stakeholders; you will mentor teams, define SLOs, and drive automation using Python, Bash, Go, and CI/CD tools. The position requires 12+ years of experience and deep TCP/IP/BGP knowledge.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of relevant experience in SRE/Networking or allied roles.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• Experience with large-scale distributed systems and networking.
• Deep understanding of TCP/IP, BGP, load balancing and firewall concepts.
• Proficiency with configuration management tools (Ansible, Salt Stack, Chef, Puppet).
• Experience with Linux networking and FRR/Bird/goBGP.
• Experience developing applications and scripting (Python, Bash, Go, Rust) and code reviews.
• Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Github Actions, ArgoCD).

Responsibilities

• Architect, build and support network infrastructure solutions.
• Mentor team members and drive code quality and architectural decisions.
• Collaborate on deployment standards and update documentation.
• Build and test automation tools with Python, Bash, Go, or Rust; collaborate with network developers.
• Define SLOs for Akamai Connected Cloud infrastructure for availability and performance.
• Investigate and troubleshoot complex network issues; participate in on-call rotations.
