Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Sr. Network Security Engineer (VPN) to design, deploy, and secure an enterprise remote access VPN infrastructure, with emphasis on Tailscale and WireGuard. You will own end-to-end security for remote connectivity across Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android.

The role requires hands-on Linux administration, automation in Python, and a strong background in network security. On-site work is required, with potential for weekend extended hours as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM required or 8+ years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
• 5+ years of network security experience; 3+ years securing networks, IT infrastructure, apps, endpoints, or APIs.

Responsibilities

• Provide SME on network security, firewalls, zero-trust architectures, and VPN tech.
• Architect, deploy, and secure enterprise remote access VPN solutions (Tailscale, WireGuard, IPsec, SSL).
• Own full lifecycle of remote access infrastructure from design to management and optimization.
• Configure and support VPN clients across Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android.
• Manage Linux-based infrastructure and security systems with end-to-end ownership.
• Develop automation and CI/CD workflows (Python) to streamline deployment and policy enforcement.
• Implement zero-trust remote access architectures and manage firewall policies.
• Escalate and collaborate with engineering and operations to design secure solutions.
• Monitor VPN performance, logs, and security posture; improve processes and change management.
• Apply system patches and ongoing maintenance to improve reliability and security.
