Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Senior Network & Security Engineer to design, operate, troubleshoot, and improve enterprise network-security infrastructure. The role focuses on Palo Alto NGFWs, Panorama, HA, Cisco switching, and integration with Cortex XSIAM and Strata Logging Service.

The successful candidate will act as a technical escalation point, lead architecture initiatives, establish standards, and partner with SOC and cloud teams to reduce risk while maintaining highly available services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years (or commensurate experience).
• 8+ years in network engineering and security.
• 5+ years Palo Alto firewall experience in production.
• Experience with Panorama and HA design/troubleshooting.
• Ability to lead technical projects and mentor engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, deployment, and lifecycle management of Palo Alto NGFW environments (PAN-OS).
• Manage centralized firewall administration with Panorama (device groups, templates, upgrades).
• Design security policies using zero-trust, least-privilege principles.
• Configure NAT, VPN, decryption, URL Filtering, Threat Prevention, WildFire, DNS Security, App-ID policies.
• Lead network segmentation and microsegmentation initiatives.
• Integrate Palo Alto with Cortex XSIAM and Strata Logging Service.
• Architect and troubleshoot, plan HA deployments and failover testing.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead incident response and root-cause analyses.
