Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Senior Network & Security Engineer to design, operate, troubleshoot, and continuously improve enterprise network-security infrastructure. You will own Palo Alto NGFWs, Panorama, and Cisco switching while guiding architecture and incident response.

As a technical lead, you will mentor engineers, collaborate with SOC and cloud teams, and drive secure, high-availability designs across on-prem and cloud resources, all within a fully remote U.S. role.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in network engineering, security, firewall administration, or security ops.
• 5+ years hands-on Palo Alto Networks firewall experience in production.
• Advanced Palo Alto Panorama operational experience.
• Strong HA design, configuration, and troubleshooting skills.
• HA1/HA2/HA3 knowledge, synchronization, and failover understanding.
• Experience with Cisco Catalyst/Nexus switching and enterprise routing.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, deployment, and lifecycle management of NGFW environments (PAN-OS).
• Own centralized firewall management via Panorama; templates, upgrades, backups, logging.
• Design security policies using zero-trust and least-privilege principles.
• Configure NAT, VPNs, decryption, URL filtering, threat prevention, and App-ID.
• Architect network segmentation and microsegmentation strategies.
• Develop secure controls for traffic across users, servers, cloud, and IoT.
• Lead HA deployments and testing; manage failover and disaster recovery.
• Mentor engineers; drive architecture standards and runbooks.
