Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology is seeking a Sr. Network Engineer with TS/SCI clearance to support intelligence customer activities in Springfield, VA or St. Louis, MO.

The role covers data center networking, LAN/WAN, security, and implementation of new technologies. You will manage projects end-to-end, collaborate with engineers across teams, and provide Tier III SME support in a fast-paced IT infrastructure environment.

Qualifications

• SME level understanding of dynamic routing protocols including OSPF and BGP.
• Professional or expert level certifications (min CCNP, F5-CTS or JNCIP) - CCIE/F5-CSE/JNCIE preferred.
• SME level understanding of data center technologies; EVPN, VXLAN, Cisco vPC, ACI, F5 load balancing and RSTP a plus.
• Experience with Cisco, F5, Juniper and Palo Alto hardware and operating systems is a plus.
• Knowledge of TCP/UDP app flow using network analyzers and switch/router diag tools.
• Familiarity with DOD STIGs and SD-WAN.
• Experience with MS Visio and documenting network architectures.
• Strong communication, presentation, and documentation skills.
• Candidate will manage projects end-to-end with initiative and time management.
• 10 years of experience preferred in data center networking.

Responsibilities

• Support Data Center network, application delivery, and security environments end-to-end.
• Provide tier III SME level incident management support.
• Coordinate solution development and deployment with stakeholders and project staff.
• Collaborate with system engineers to meet technical goals and timelines.
• Evaluate new network technologies and recommend integration approaches.
• Develop and implement LAN/WAN analysis, testing, and support methods.
• Diagnose hardware/software issues and replace faulty components.
• Maintain and administer networks, systems software, and configurations.
• Ensure integration with performance/availability management frameworks.
• Schedule changes within change management framework.
• Assess new hardware/software for optimal integration and compliance.
• Prepare technical proposals for engineering review boards.
• Perform network upgrades and assess user upgrade requests.
• Conduct long-term O&M and tier 3 troubleshooting and resolution.
• Interface with external tier 4 support and vendors as needed.
• Use network analysis tools to identify and fix problems; maintain logs.
• Develop SOPs for technical support staff and fault management.
