Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to lead design, deployment, and optimization of load balancing and firewall technologies. The role emphasizes Palo Alto PAN-OS firewall management, F5 BIG-IP LTM, and Panorama for centralized policy control across hybrid environments.

The candidate will work on-site at Ashburn, Springfield, or Orlando, collaborating with security, DevOps, and applications teams to ensure secure, reliable, and scalable network services.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years hands-on network engineering experience.
• At least 2 years in load balancing or firewall administration.
• Experience administering Palo Alto PAN-OS firewalls and F5 BIG-IP LTM.
• Centralized firewall management using Palo Alto Panorama.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, HTTP/S, DNS and HA configurations.
• On-site work at Ashburn, Springfield, or Orlando is required.
• U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain DHS clearance.

Responsibilities

• Architect, deploy, and manage enterprise load balancing platforms.
• Design and maintain Next-Generation Firewall (NGFW) infrastructure with PAN-OS focus.
• Develop and enforce firewall rulesets and security policies.
• Configure SSL offloading, health monitors, and iRules/policies.
• Lead incident response for firewall and load balancer outages and security events.
• Mentor junior engineers and maintain runbooks and change records.
• Collaborate with DevOps and security teams to onboard new services.
