Job summary

Peraton is seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to lead enterprise load balancing and NGFW initiatives across distributed and hybrid cloud environments. The role emphasizes hands-on work with Palo Alto PAN-OS, F5 BIG-IP, and WAF technologies to ensure secure, high-performing networks.

The successful candidate will design, deploy, and optimize security-focused network architectures, support on-site operations in Ashburn VA, Springfield VA, or Orlando FL, and mentor junior engineers

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher with relevant networking experience.
• 5+ years hands-on network engineering, 2+ years in load balancing or firewall administration.
• Experience with Palo Alto PAN-OS firewalls and F5 BIG-IP LTM.
• Experience configuring security policies, NAT, and centralized management.
• Strong understanding of load balancing, SSL offloading, and HA configurations.

Responsibilities

• Architect and manage enterprise load balancing platforms (F5 BIG-IP, Citrix ADC, NGINX, HAProxy).
• Design and maintain NGFW infrastructure, focusing on PAN-OS and related firewalls.
• Develop firewall rules, NAT configurations, and centralized policy management with Panorama.
• Configure Palo Alto security features (App-ID, User-ID, Content-ID, Security Profiles).
• Deploy and manage GlobalProtect for remote access and mobile security.
• Implement WAF policies (Palo Alto Prisma Cloud; F5 ASM) to protect apps.
• Ensure HA architectures and multi-cloud integrations (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Lead incident response and on-call rotations; mentor junior staff.
