ZipStaff Inc. is seeking a Senior Network Security Engineer to lead perimeter and infrastructure security. The role focuses on Palo Alto firewalls, WAF, IDS/IPS, and cloud security across AWS and Azure, with mentoring responsibilities and strict adherence to security standards in Washington, DC.

You will design, implement, and optimize security controls, automate workflows with scripting, and collaborate with cross-functional teams during SDLC. On-site required.

Qualifications

• 11+ years in cybersecurity engineering focused on enterprise network and firewall security.
• Palo Alto Networks firewall administration in complex environments.
• Experience securing cloud infrastructure in AWS and Microsoft Azure.
• Scripting for security workflows using Python/PowerShell/Bash.
• Knowledge of NIST, CIS Controls, PCI-DSS, HIPAA, ISO 27001 standards.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.
• On-site work in Washington, DC.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, configuration, rule maintenance, and optimization of Palo Alto firewalls and perimeter security.
• Maintain and support WAF, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and NAC technologies.
• Collaborate with cloud, network, and application teams for secure cloud architectures (AWS/Azure).
• Analyze incidents, monitor SIEM, conduct threat hunting, and root-cause investigations.
• Perform security reviews and risk assessments ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Build automation scripts in Python, PowerShell, or Bash to streamline tasks.
• Develop runbooks, diagrams, and SOPs to support long-term security strategy.
• Mentor junior engineers and guide teams through SDLC security practices.
• Participate in planned maintenance windows and incident response activities.
