Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to support enterprise network infrastructure and security operations across hybrid cloud environments. You will be the SME for load balancing, NGFW, and firewall management, focusing on Palo Alto Networks and F5 BIG-IP platforms.

This full-time, on-site role requires working at Ashburn, Springfield, or Orlando locations, collaborating with cross-functional teams to design, deploy, and optimize secure and high-performing networks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 8 years of experience in IT or related field, or equivalent.
• U.S. citizen eligible to obtain DHS clearance.
• Minimum 5 years hands-on network engineering, with at least 2 years in load balancing or firewall admin.
• Hands-on experience administering Palo Alto PAN-OS firewalls and F5 BIG-IP LTM or equivalent ADC.
• Experience configuring firewall policies, NAT, and centralized management using Palo Alto Panorama.
• Strong understanding of load balancing, SSL/TLS termination, health monitoring, and high availability.
• Solid TCP/IP, HTTP/S, DNS, routing, and NAT knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Architect, deploy, and manage enterprise load balancing platforms.
• Design NGFW infrastructure with PAN-OS and other vendors.
• Develop and enforce firewall rulesets, security policies, NAT configurations.
• Configure Palo Alto features: App-ID, User-ID, Content-ID, Security Profiles.
• Deploy and manage GlobalProtect for remote access VPN and mobile security.
• Configure and optimize load balancing algorithms, health monitors, and SSL offloading.
• Lead on-call incidents and mentor junior engineers; maintain runbooks and docs.
