Job summary

GovCIO seeks a Senior Network & Security Engineer to lead design, deployment, and troubleshooting of enterprise network-security infrastructure. The role focuses on Palo Alto NGFW environments, Panorama management, high-availability designs, and integration with Cortex XSIAM and Strata Logging Service.

You will work with SOC, infrastructure, cloud, and application teams to reduce risk and maintain highly available services from a remote location in the United States.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in network engineering or security operations.
• 5+ years Palo Alto firewall experience in a production enterprise environment.
• Advanced experience with Palo Alto Panorama for multi-device policy management and upgrades.
• Strong HA design and troubleshooting knowledge.
• Experience with Cisco Catalyst/Nexus switching.
• Knowledge of network segmentation and microsegmentation.
• Familiarity with Cortex XSIAM, Strata Logging Service, cloud security concepts.
• Ability to lead complex technical projects and mentor engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and deployment of Palo Alto NGFW environments.
• Manage Panorama device groups, templates, and upgrades.
• Design security policies using zero-trust and least-privilege principles.
• Troubleshoot TCP/IP, NAT, VPN, and App‑ID policies.
• Lead network segmentation and microsegmentation initiatives.
• Develop secure controls for traffic between users, servers, and cloud resources.
• Plan and execute HA failover testing and PAN-OS upgrades.
• Mentor junior engineers and support incident response.
• Create network diagrams, firewall-policy docs, and runbooks.
• Coordinate with SOC to tune detections and responses.
