Job summary

The State of South Carolina, Department of Administration’s Office of Technology and Information Services (OTIS), is seeking a Senior Network Administrator to maintain and enhance the state’s network infrastructure in a large, complex environment. You will install, configure, and troubleshoot network devices, monitor performance, and document changes across multiple agencies.

This on-site role in Columbia requires strong routing, switching, and security expertise, along with project coordination

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field; experience may substitute degree.
• At least four years in a large, complex network environment.
• Knowledge of LAN/WAN/MAN and data transport such as MPLS and Metro Ethernet.
• Familiarity with routing protocols (BGP, OSPF) and TCP/IP; VLANs; 802.1q.
• VoIP design and security/compliance standards (NIST, PCI, HIPAA).

Responsibilities

• Install, configure and troubleshoot network devices and OSs per best practices.
• Peer review network configuration changes by other engineers.
• Troubleshoot switching/routing issues across the network.
• Monitor performance and utilization with available tools.
• Maintain documentation and Visio drawings for migrations.
• Collaborate with project management on network projects and budgets.
• Assess feasibility, costs, and timelines for projects.
