Job summary

SYSTEMTEC is seeking a Network Security Administrator for an on-site opportunity in Columbia, SC. You will support day-to-day cybersecurity operations within a Security Operations Center, focusing on network security monitoring, threat analysis, compliance, and secure infrastructure changes.

The role requires hands-on experience with network security technologies, certifications like PCNSE/CCNA, and the ability to work with senior analysts and stakeholders on complex initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 5+ years of equivalent professional experience.
• Network security certification such as PCNSE or CCNA.
• 3–5 years of hands-on experience in network design, implementation, IT security, or system administration.
• Working knowledge of secure network architecture, security controls, compliance technologies, data protection, and access management.
• Hands-on knowledge of network security technologies including switching/routing, enterprise firewalls, IDS/IPS, network auditing, and security monitoring.
• Experience analyzing security logs, alerts, network traffic, and other telemetry to identify threats or policy violations.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and respond to network security alerts in on-premises and cloud environments.
• Assess firewall, connectivity, infrastructure changes for security risks.
• Monitor network traffic, ports, protocols, and firewall rules for compliance.
• Develop and enhance network security controls, compliance processes, and monitoring KPIs.
• Collaborate with technical teams, stakeholders, partners, and vendors on secure network solutions.
• Participate in firewall review, rule-set recertification, security planning, and cloud/on‑prem projects.

Job description

SYSTEMTEC is seeking a Network Security Administrator for a on-siteopportunity for candidates in Columbia, SC. Candidate will support day-to-day cybersecurity operations within a Security Operations Center, focusing on network security monitoring, threat analysis, compliance, and secure infrastructure changes. The role will independently handle technical security tasks while collaborating with senior analysts and stakeholders on complex network and cybersecurity initiatives.

Required Qualifications of the Network Security Administrator:

• Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. We are unable to provide sponsorship or work with Third-Party agencies.
• Candidate must currently reside in South Carolina; relocation is not available for this position.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline, or 5+ years of equivalent professional experience.
• Network security certification such as PCNSE or CCNA.
• 3–5 years of hands-on experience in network design, implementation, support, IT security, or system administration.
• Working knowledge of secure network architecture, security controls, compliance technologies, data protection, and access management.
• Hands-on knowledge of network security technologies, including switching/routing, enterprise firewalls, IDS/IPS, network auditing, and security monitoring.
• Experience analyzing security logs, alerts, network traffic, and other telemetry to identify potential threats or policy violations.
• Experience with Windows, macOS, and Linux environments and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Preferred Skills/Experience: CISSP or Security+; SIEM platforms such as QRadar or Splunk; Nessus, Qualys, or similar vulnerability scanning tools; cloud network security in Azure or AWS; and experience with FISMA, NIST, CMS ARC-AMPE, HIPAA, regulatory environments, health IT, or state government.

Responsibilities of the Network Security Administrator:

• Investigate and respond to network security alerts while analyzing on-premises and cloud environments for potential threats.
• Conduct security assessments of proposed firewall, connectivity, infrastructure, and network changes and evaluate requests for potential security risks.
• Monitor and analyze network traffic, ports, protocols, services, firewall rules, and security reports for compliance with established standards.
• Support the development and enhancement of network security controls, compliance processes, monitoring capabilities, KPIs, and trend reporting.
• Collaborate with technical teams, business stakeholders, partners, and vendors to implement secure network solutions and provide cybersecurity guidance.
• Participate in firewall configuration reviews, ruleset recertification, security planning, cloud and on-premises projects, emerging-threat analysis, and other SOC activities.
