Job summary

The State of South Carolina's Department of Administration, Office of Technology and Information Services, is seeking a Senior Network Administrator to join our team in Columbia. You will install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain network devices and their operating systems, ensuring health and security across state agency networks.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in IT and at least four years of experience in large networks, with CCNP or equivalent experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field; substitution allowed year-for-year.
• At least four years of experience in a large, complex network environment.
• Knowledge of LAN, WAN, MAN; MPLS and data transport.
• Proficiency with routing protocols (BGP, OSPF); TCP/IP; VLANs; 802.1q trunking.
• Cisco CCNP or comparable experience preferred.
• CJIS certification and security standards familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, troubleshoot and maintain network devices and their operating systems.
• Perform peer review of network configuration changes and support other Network Engineers.
• Troubleshoot switching and routing issues; implement routing and tunneling protocols.
• Support network connectivity for cloud and DR networks.
• Monitor network performance and maintain documentation; create Visio drawings for migrations.
• Collaborate with Project Management to ensure accurate network project documentation.
• Develop network project plans and assess feasibility, cost, and timelines.
