Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions in Pearl Harbor, HI, is seeking a Network Engineer to join a large-scale DoD enterprise network program with 100% on-site presence. Alternate locations include Whidbey Island and Norfolk.

The Network Engineer Mid will serve as a Tier 3 escalation SME, focusing on complex troubleshooting, engineering, configuration management, lab validation, and securing the network per DISA STIGs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 8–12 years of relevant experience, or Master's with 6–10 years of relevant experience.
• Active Secret clearance.
• IAT Level III certification.
• Network certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or CCIE.
• Extensive hands-on BAN/LAN/WAN/WLAN and network boundary engineering.
• Strong Tier III troubleshooting and engineering experience within large-scale geographically dispersed networks.
• Experience supporting networks across 16,000+ devices across 450+ locations.

Responsibilities

• Lead efforts to identify, troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve complex network issues in a large-scale enterprise environment.
• Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Cisco switches/routers, VLANs, wireless APs, firewalls, and sensors.
• Provide Tier III escalation support and SME backing for complex troubleshooting across multiple teams.
• Troubleshoot and engineer LAN/WAN/WLAN, SD-WAN, MPLS, VPNs, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, and multicast technologies.
• Apply defense-in-depth principles to secure enterprise network per DISA STIGs and cybersecurity policies.
• Develop and maintain Engineering Implementation Plans (EIPs) and manage change requests for deployments and maintenance.
• Conduct Root Cause Analysis and maintain version-controlled configuration baselines; document test results and rollback procedures.
