Job summary

National Grid is seeking a Senior Network Engineer in Hicksville, NY, to support mission critical infrastructure for Generation Operations. You will design, implement, and document WAN/LAN, contribute to NERC CIP compliance, and lead complex network projects with on-call support.

This role demands strong problem-solving and security discipline within a hybrid work environment. The ideal candidate will have LAN/WAN expertise, firewall/IDS experience, scripting skills, and a Cisco certification

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field.
Expertise in LAN technologies and WAN concepts.
Experience configuring firewalls, IDS, switches and other network devices.
Scripting experience in PowerShell, Python or similar.
CCNP or CCIE preferred.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and maintain WAN and LAN infrastructure with high availability, security, resiliency, and scalability.
Provide guidance on network architecture, upgrades, lifecycle management, and emerging technologies.
Lead and participate in network projects, delivering outcomes on time and within budget.
Create and maintain comprehensive network documentation and designs.
Support major incidents, investigations, and escalations related to network services.
