Job summary

GCI is seeking an Expert Network Engineer to design and manage complex on-prem and cloud network architectures, ensuring secure, scalable connectivity. You will implement and optimize VPNs, routing, and firewall solutions while guiding colleagues and clients through technical decisions.

The ideal candidate has deep expertise in Cisco/Juniper firewall management, network monitoring, and cloud/on-prem deployments, with a focus on reliability and security.

Qualifications

• Experience in IPSec site-to-site VPN and remote access VPN.
• Experience configuring, designing, maintaining, and troubleshooting LAN/WAN devices.
• Deep understanding of routing (EIGRP/OSPF/BGP) and QoS concepts.
• Ability to translate customer requirements into technical network solutions.

Responsibilities

• Designs and plans network communications for on-prem and cloud-based systems.
• Provides specifications and schematics for network architecture.
• Plans enhancements and security upgrades to the network.
• Sets up, configures, tests, and troubleshoots on-site network infrastructure.
• Monitors network hardware and cloud devices for reliable operation.
• Advises users on hardware needs and configurations.
• Provides troubleshooting guidance to team members and end users.
• Offers recommendations on hardware/software selection and implementation techniques.
• Gives technical expertise on network hardware/software interfaces (routers, switches, firewalls, etc.).
• Evaluates changing technologies to keep network capabilities up to date and secure.
