Job summary

The Intersect Group seeks a Senior Network Engineer for the Greater Phoenix area to support and modernize a large OT network powering municipal infrastructure. This 100% on-site, contract-to-hire role covers field and office work across 1,300+ locations, requiring hands-on engineering and strong communication skills.

You will troubleshoot Layer 2/3, design VLANs, manage routing and switching, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with vendors and leadership to drive network modernization

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on network engineering experience.
• Strong expertise in Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking, routing and switching.
• VLAN design and network segmentation experience.
• Experience with wired and wireless network infrastructures.
• Ability to create and maintain network diagrams and technical documentation.
• Excellent communication skills for non-technical audiences.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally for field support.

Responsibilities

• Support and maintain a large-scale network infrastructure across 1,300+ locations.
• Troubleshoot complex Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking issues across wired and wireless environments.
• Manage network segmentation, VLANs, routing, switching, and connectivity across distributed locations.
• Participate in ongoing network modernization and future-state architecture initiatives.
• Collaborate with engineering teams, external vendors, and stakeholders on projects.
• Review and contribute to network design documentation, diagrams, and technical standards.
• Mentor junior technical staff and present updates to leadership and executives.
• Perform field-based troubleshooting throughout the metro area.
