Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. is seeking a hands-on Senior Network Development Engineer to own design, engineering, and operations for high‑scale AWS networks in the public sector.

You will lead design, build and optimize durable solutions, mentor engineers, and partner with software teams to automate deployments. The role requires strong communication, project management, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with diverse teams.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of major internet routing protocols experience.
• 5+ years of working in a Linux/Unix environment.
• 3+ years of automation scripting using Python, Bash, Shell and/or Perl.
• Experience in IP networking technologies such as BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS, TCP, SLB, network hardware platforms, and packet forwarding architectures.
• Network design, engineering, implementation, and/or operations experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of highly available, hyper-scale networks, services, and deployment procedures; collaborate with internal customers from concept to production.
• Write and defend High Level Design (HLD) and Low Level Design (LLD) documents; build and test solutions; support deployment and operation teams.
• Define and influence strategy and technology roadmaps within and outside the team.
• Select projects with leadership; lead project teams to deliver.
• Collaborate with network engineers and software developers to automate deployment and operations.
• Drive operational excellence projects to improve network performance and reliability.
• Troubleshoot complex problems; review and implement changes on the network.
• Hire, mentor, and coach engineers.
