Job summary

Vertiv is seeking a Field Engineer - Electrical Testing (NETA III/IV) to perform acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing on high-voltage power systems up to 500 kV. You will interpret diagrams, lead testing projects, and train junior technicians in a fast-paced, field-based role.

Travel up to 75% regionally/nationally; comprehensive benefits and a path to leadership within Vertiv's ERS division are offered. Must hold NETA III/IV and have strong HV experience.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on electrical testing experience in medium/high voltage environments.
• Expert knowledge of NETA MTS and ATS standards.
• Proficiency with test equipment: Doble, Megger, Omicron, Dranetz, SKF.
• Ability to read one-line and three-line diagrams, schematics and P&IDs.

Responsibilities

• Perform acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing on electrical power systems and equipment up to 500kV.
• Conduct power system studies including short circuit, coordination, arc flash, and power quality analysis.
• Test and calibrate protective relays (electromechanical, solid-state, and microprocessor-based).
• Perform insulation resistance, power factor, and contact resistance testing on transformers, switchgear, cables, and circuit breakers.
• Interpret and analyze test results; author comprehensive engineering reports with findings and recommendations.
• Troubleshoot complex electrical system failures under time-critical conditions.
• Mentor and train Level I/II technicians in the field.
• Serve as technical lead on multi-discipline project teams.
• Maintain compliance with NETA MTS/ATS standards, NFPA 70E, and OSHA safety requirements.
