Job summary

Vertiv (ERS / HVM) is seeking a Field Engineer – Electrical Testing (NETA Level III/IV) to perform commissioning and maintenance testing on electrical power systems up to 500 kV. Regional and national travel up to 75% is required. A strong background in HV testing and NETA standards is essential.

You will analyze results, produce detailed engineering reports, and mentor junior technicians while advancing through a structured career path within Vertiv.

Qualifications

• NETA Level III or IV certification
• 7+ years of hands-on electrical testing in medium/high voltage environments
• Expert knowledge of NETA MTS/ATS standards
• Proficiency with test equipment: Doble, Megger, Omicron, Dranetz, SKF
• Strong understanding of protective relay schemes and coordination
• Ability to read one-line and three-line diagrams, schematics, and P&IDs
• Valid driver's license with clean record
• Willingness to travel regionally up to 75%

Responsibilities

• Perform acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing on electrical power systems up to 500 kV
• Conduct power system studies including short circuit, coordination, arc flash, and power quality analysis
• Test and calibrate protective relays (electromechanical, solid-state, microprocessor-based)
• Perform insulation resistance, power factor, and contact resistance testing on transformers, switchgear, cables, and circuit breakers
• Interpret test results and author engineering reports with findings and recommendations
• Troubleshoot complex electrical system failures under time-critical conditions
• Mentor Level I/II technicians in the field
• Serve as technical lead on multi-discipline project teams
• Maintain compliance with NETA MTS/ATS, NFPA 70E, and OSHA safety requirements
