Job summary

Vertiv is seeking an experienced Field Engineer - Electrical Testing to lead acceptance, commissioning, and testing activities on high‑voltage power systems. You will perform studies, calibrate relays, and generate detailed reports while mentoring junior techs on site.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on electrical testing experience in medium/high voltage environments.
• Must read and interpret one-line and three-line diagrams, schematics, and P&IDs.
• Current NETA Level III or IV certification in good standing.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record and willingness to travel up to 75%.

Responsibilities

• Perform acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing on electrical power systems and equipment up to 500kV.
• Conduct power system studies including short-circuit, coordination, arc flash, and power quality analysis.
• Test and calibrate protective relays (electromechanical, solid-state, and microprocessor-based).
• Perform insulation resistance, power factor, and contact resistance testing on transformers, switchgear, cables, and breakers.
• Interpret and analyze test results; author comprehensive engineering reports with findings and recommendations.
• Troubleshoot complex electrical system failures under time-critical conditions.
• Mentor and train Level I/II technicians; serve as technical lead on multi-discipline projects.
• Maintain compliance with NETA MTS/ATS, NFPA 70E, and OSHA safety requirements.
