Job summary

Transamerica’s Enterprise Technology team in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking a Specialist Software Engineer to own the design and operation of backend Windows services built on C# and .NET Framework 4.8. You’ll lead multi-threaded patterns, improve reliability, and drive root-cause analysis of production issues, while shaping standards across teams.

This hybrid role requires three in-office days weekly at one of our hub locations, including Cedar Rapids.

Qualifications

• Degree in computer science, information systems, math, engineering, or equivalent.
• 6+ years of professional software engineering with C#/.NET (4.x).
• Strong multithreading and concurrency expertise.
• Experience building and operating Windows Services.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture, design, development, deployment, and support of Windows Services using C# and .NET 4.8.
• Establish patterns for multi-threaded design and resolve complex issues (Monitor, Interlocked, ManualResetEvent).
• Diagnose high-impact production issues with concurrency, performance, and memory usage; document root causes.
• Define self-managing service patterns, observability, and end-to-end traceability across teams.
