Job summary

Transamerica Enterprise Technology is seeking a Specialist Software Engineer to set technical direction for backend Windows Services built on C# and the .NET Framework. You will own high-risk legacy services, improve reliability, observability, and recoverability, and establish patterns and reference designs across teams.

You will lead architecture, design, and deployment, diagnose complex production issues, and drive root-cause analysis with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a technical field.
• Six years of professional software engineering experience with C# and the .NET Framework (4.x).
• Deep multithreading and concurrency expertise and experience with deadlocks, race conditions, and resource contention.
• Production experience building and operating Windows Services and strong root-cause analysis.
• Five years of experience with SQL Server including transactions, isolation levels, indexing, and performance.

Responsibilities

• Set the technical direction for architecture, design, and deployment of critical Windows Services.
• Lead diagnosis and resolution of high-impact production issues involving concurrency and performance.
• Design self-managing service patterns, heartbeat monitoring, and recovery strategies.
• Define transaction integrity and dead-letter handling for data in flight.
• Provide technical authority for SQL Server design, access patterns, and ORM usage.
• Mentor developers and lead code reviews for high-risk work.
