Job summary

Transamerica is seeking a Specialist Software Engineer to set the technical direction for Windows Services built on C# and the .NET Framework. You will own high-risk services, ensure reliability, observability, and auditability, and establish patterns and reference designs to raise engineering quality across teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, math, engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Six years of professional software engineering experience with C# and .NET Framework (4.x).
• Strong multithreading and concurrency expertise with deadlock diagnosis.
• Production experience building and operating Windows Services.
• Five years of advanced SQL Server experience including indexing and isolation levels.
• Experience establishing data-access standards with LLBLGen or similar ORM.
• Proficiency with Visual Studio, Git/Bitbucket, SQL Server Management Studio, NUnit, and CI/CD tools.

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction and lead architecture, design, deployment, and support of Windows Services using C# and .NET Framework 4.8.
• Serve as SME for multi-threaded app design and resolve complex concurrency issues.
• Diagnose high-impact production issues and drive root-cause improvements.
• Define self-managing service patterns, health checks, and observable telemetry.
• Define transaction integrity, dead-letter handling, and replayable processing.
• Provide data-access and ORM standards and governance across teams.
• Lead design reviews, mentor developers, and drive engineering quality.
• Align technology decisions with reliability, scalability, and business outcomes.
