Job summary

Fortra, LLC is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer to contribute to the Automate platform. You will design and build capabilities on a mature .NET product, translate requirements into implementation, and help set coding standards across a distributed team.

This is a full-time, fully remote role on a distributed team. You will mentor engineers, review code, and apply AI tools responsibly, ensuring high-quality code and robust platform health.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with deep hands-on .NET and C# work.
• Strong grasp of object-oriented design and design patterns.
• Proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server and complex queries.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and GitLab.
• Experience mentoring other engineers.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
• Practical experience using AI coding assistants on production work.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain new platform capabilities on the Automate product.
• Translate product requirements into implementation, test, and release plans.
• Identify and evaluate new technologies, including AI capabilities that become part of the product.
• Work across a large .NET and C# codebase spanning the desktop client, server components, and the database layer.
• Diagnose and fix complex defects that cross component boundaries in production.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews, pairing, and feedback; help set team standards.
