Job summary

Atlas in the Southeast is seeking a Senior NEPA Planner to shape the delivery of major transportation projects across the Gulf South and Carolinas. The role supports planning through environmental approvals, working with historians, archaeologists, ecologists and engineers.

Hybrid or remote, with potential siting in GA, TN, LA or the Carolinas; travel up to 25%; requires NEPA/GEPA knowledge, seller-doer experience, and proficiency with Acrobat, Bluebeam, MS Office and AutoCAD/Civil 3D.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Planning, Environmental Sciences, or a closely related field.
• 8-15 years of professional experience, including NEPA documentation.
• Ability to travel up to 25% of the time, including overnight travel.
• Experience with GDOT preferred but not required.
• Proven seller-doer experience for DOTs.

Responsibilities

• Perform environmental planning for DOT projects throughout the Southeast.
• Prepare NEPA documentation (PCEs, CEs, EAs, FONSIs, EISs).
• Lead coordination within an interdisciplinary NEPA team.
• Develop project scopes, budgets, and schedules.
• Read and interpret transportation plans and specifications.
• Prepare materials for public involvement meetings and responses to comments.
• Maintain DOT TPro updates, Primavera P6 schedules, and progress reports.
• Support business development with technical and fee proposals.
• Coordinate with stakeholders including PMs, engineers, agencies and local governments.
