Job summary

Atlas is seeking a Senior NEPA Planner to guide environmental planning for major Southeast transportation projects, including LA, GA, and surrounding states. You will lead NEPA documentation, coordinate an interdisciplinary team, and drive scopes, budgets, and schedules from planning through environmental approval.

The role supports hybrid or remote work options and may sit in GA, TN, LA, or the Carolinas. Strong NEPA expertise and DOT collaboration are essential for success, with opportunities

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Planning, Environmental Sciences, or related field.
• 8–15 years’ experience including NEPA documentation.
• Ability to travel up to 25% incl. overnight travel.
• GDOT experience preferred but not required.
• Seller-doer experience with DOTs (5+ years).
• Strong NEPA knowledge and state policy Act familiarity.
• Proficient with Acrobat, Bluebeam, MS Office, AutoCAD/Civil 3D; ArcGIS Pro preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform environmental planning for DOT projects across the Southeast.
• Prepare NEPA documents: PCEs, CEs, EAs, FONSIs, EISs.
• Lead coordination within interdisciplinary NEPA team.
• Develop project scopes, budgets, and schedules.
• Read and interpret transportation plans and specs.
• Prepare materials for public involvement meetings and respond to comments.
• Apply MOUs to transportation projects.
• Conduct land use research for NEPA documentation.
• Maintain DOT TPro, Primavera P6 schedules, progress reports, and meeting minutes.
• Support business development with technical and fee proposals.
