Job summary

Lochmueller Group is seeking an experienced environmental scientist and project manager to join our team in Overland Park, KS. The role focuses on delivering high-quality environmental services and expanding our environmental practice in the Kansas City region.

You will lead project teams, coordinate with clients and agencies, manage NEPA processes, and mentor staff while contributing to strategic growth initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, or other Natural Science field.
• Typically requires 10+ years of relevant experience in environmental documentation or related fields.
• Ability to secure State NEPA certification(s) when applicable.
• Extensive knowledge of NEPA regulations and documentation.
• Strong working knowledge of environmental regulations.
• Proficiency with GIS and mapping systems.
• Demonstrated project management capabilities in an environmental discipline.
• Strong research capabilities.
• Ability to conduct fieldwork in various conditions.

Responsibilities

• Environmental Project Management: lead projects, manage tasks, budgets, schedules, and resources; review scopes and deliverables for quality and compliance.
• Business Development & Regional Growth: develop project scopes and fees; support growth of environmental services in the Kansas City region.
• Client, Agency, and Public Coordination: coordinate with clients, agencies, and the public; lead public involvement meetings.
• Environmental Planning, Documentation & Analysis: oversee NEPA documents; lead NEPA process and analysis.
• Permitting, Mitigation & Compliance: ensure compliance with regulations; uphold safety protocols.
• Mentorship & Team Development: mentor junior staff and grow team capabilities.
• Perform other duties as needed.
