Job summary

Langan Engineering & Environmental Services is seeking a Practice Leader – Environmental to join its Kansas City team. This role will oversee the growth of the Kansas City Environmental Practice, identify environmental/engineering projects, supervise field investigations, and lead proposals.

The ideal candidate has extensive environmental investigations experience, a PE/PG license, and strong leadership and client management skills to expand the practice’s market presence.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Hydrogeology, or a related science; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of practical experience with environmental investigations and remediation projects.
  • Professional Geologist (PG) or Professional Engineer (PE) required.
  • Strong people, project, and client management skills.
  • Knowledge of quantitative/technical analyses and related software.
  • Excellent public speaking, written, and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead identification and pursuit of new clients and development of additional work with existing clients.
  • Provide oversight and management of junior staff; coach, train, and motivate staff; participate in hiring.
  • Manage junior, senior staff, and project managers.
  • Deliver multiple projects within budgets, schedules, and deadlines.
  • Perform complex analyses for portions of environmental projects.
  • Interface with clients, contractors, and project personnel professionally.

Job Summary

Langan is seeking a Practice Leader – Environmental to join its collaborative team in Kansas City. The role will oversee and drive the growth of Langan's Kansas City Environmental Practice, identifying and managing environmental/engineering projects and proposals, conducting engineering research and analysis, and supervising field investigations and laboratory analysis. The successful candidate will bring a strong technical expertise and leadership presence to expand the market presence of the practice.

Job Responsibilities
  • Lead the identification and pursuit of new clients, develop additional work within existing projects, and attend business development meetings with new and existing clients.
  • Provide direct oversight and management of junior staff for specific project assignments. Coach, train, and motivate staff assigned to environmental projects and participate in interviewing and hiring staff.
  • Manage junior staff, senior staff, and project managers.
  • Manage and deliver multiple projects and tasks within specific budgets, schedules, and deadlines.
  • Perform complex analyses for specific portions of broader engineering and environmental projects.
  • Interface effectively and professionally with clients, contractors, subcontractors, staff, project personnel, supervisors, and others.
  • Supervise field activities and ensure correct interpretations of findings, ensuring that data collection and laboratory analyses are completed correctly, within budget, and on time.
  • Effectively organize, write, and edit reports, draft proposals, and other documents.
  • Coordinate other work groups within the same or different office locations and/or disciplines on an as-needed basis.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Hydrogeology, or a related science; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of practical experience with environmental investigations and remediation projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of EPA, CERCLA, and RCRA regulations.
  • Professional Geologist (PG) or Professional Engineer (PE) required.
  • Strong people, project, and client management skills.
  • Knowledge of quantitative/technical analyses and related software.
  • Excellent public speaking, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities.
  • Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment.
  • Possess reliable transportation for client meetings and job site visits and a valid driver’s license in good standing.
