Job summary

Professional Environmental Engineers, Inc. in Missouri seeks an Environmental Engineer or Geologist to lead the Kansas City office.

This role blends technical work with project and staff management, requiring a dynamic, ambitious, and versatile leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys new challenges. Responsibilities include leading Phase I and II ESAs, permitting, CERCLA/RCRA investigations, remediation, and regulatory compliance inspections, plus preparing technical reports

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering or related science with environmental emphasis.
• 10+ years total experience and 5 years in Project Management.
• Professional Engineer or Registered Geologist license.
• Knowledge of geologic principles and soil classification (USCS) and regional geology.
• Experience with CERCLA, RCRA, NEPA and MRBCA/Kansas/IL regs.
• Strong communication and coordination with clients and vendors.
• Organized, self-directed, able to lead tasks and teams.
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 25%.
• OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER and 8-hr refresher; PMP; ASTM Phase I ESA Training; SWPPP/SPCC; NEPA experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead, develop, grow, and expand the Kansas City Office and Operations.
• Manage Phase I ESAs/related due diligence projects, Phase II ESAs, permitting, CERCLA/RCRA investigations, remedial design, environmental remediation, and environmental compliance inspections through monitoring and maintaining project schedules and budgets, evaluating project productivity and quality, and direct the complete technical operations of the project.
• Develop work plans, health and safety plans, field sampling plans, and sampling and analysis plans.
• Prepare soil boring logs, cross-sections, contour maps, well schematics, and site maps.
• Perform sampling of soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, soil vapor, and air and other field related tasks.
• Perform oversight of remediation projects.
• Prepare highly technical reports, tables, spreadsheets, and maps for client and regulatory agency review.
