Job summary

Carpenter Technology Corporation’s Tanner, AL site seeks an NDT Quality Specialist IV to direct advanced nondestructive testing programs, develop CTQ and control plans, and lead NDT personnel through complex inspection methods. You will drive process improvements, mentor Level 1–3 staff, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure first-time quality across aerospace-materials manufacturing.

The role requires ASNT Level 3 in ultrasonic testing, a 6-month path to Carpenter Level 3

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• ASNT Level 3 Certification in ultrasonic inspection.
• Must obtain Carpenter Level 3 Certification within 6 months of hire date.
• 6+ years of experience as an NDT Level 3 in a similar role.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage projects with technical depth.

Responsibilities

• Direct proactive improvement of NDT and other processes to increase first time through (FTT).
• Establish CTQ, KPC, KCC, control plans, and FMEA via project teams.
• Mentor NDT Level 1–3 personnel in quality strategies and tools.
• Identify quality issues to reduce nonconformances and customer complaints.
• Lead data collection and SPC implementation to maintain process capability.
• Develop training materials and NDT personnel training.
• Oversee NDT calibration program and records.
• Lead internal and external audits of the quality program.
