Job summary

WSP is seeking a highly skilled NBIS Certified Bridge Inspection Team Leader to join our Mountain/Pacific Northwest Region Bridge Inspection Group. You will lead NBIS/NTIS inspections of bridges, tunnels, and transportation structures, delivering detailed technical reports that support client infrastructure programs.

The role requires 7+ years of post‑education experience, a PE license, and NBIS certification, with strong writing, safety compliance, and field leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or closely related field.
  • 7+ years of post‑education experience in engineering with structural or civil design exposure.
  • NBIS Certification as a Bridge Inspection Team Leader and current certifications.
  • Engineer license required.
  • Strong knowledge of AASHTO, FHWA, and state inspection standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead NBIS/NTIS inspections of bridges, tunnels, and related structures.
  • Plan and oversee field inspection activities, including safety planning and scheduling.
  • Perform inspections with rope access or specialized methods; include fracture critical/NSTM inspections.
  • Document findings with field notes, measurements, photos, and sketches.
  • Prepare comprehensive inspection reports with condition ratings and recommended actions.
  • Interpret structural plans and load ratings to inform inspection strategies.
  • Ensure safety protocols are followed during field work.
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and CAD technicians.
  • Mentor junior inspectors and provide technical guidance.
  • Communicate inspection results and project progress to clients and stakeholders.
