Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a highly skilled NBIS Certified Bridge Inspection Team Leader for our Mountain/Pacific Northwest Region. You will lead NBIS/NTIS inspections of bridges, tunnels, and related structures, delivering precise documentation and reports to support infrastructure programs.

You will mentor junior inspectors, coordinate field activities, and communicate results to clients, while ensuring adherence to safety protocols and project goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, or closely related discipline.
  • 7+ years of relevant post-education experience in an engineering discipline.
  • NBIS Certified Bridge Inspection Team Leader with up-to-date certifications.
  • Engineer license required.
  • Strong understanding of AASHTO, FHWA, and state inspection standards.
  • Proficiency with inspection tools and technologies, such as tablets, drones, NDT equipment, and digital data collection platforms.
  • Ability to read and interpret structural plans, specifications, and load rating analyses.
  • Excellent technical writing and documentation skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel for field assignments.
  • Physical ability to perform fieldwork, including climbing, lifting equipment, and working at heights or over water.
  • Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills for engineering and non-engineering audiences.
  • Self-leadership with attention to detail and multi-tasking.

Responsibilities

  • Lead NBIS/NTIS inspections of bridges, tunnels, and related structures.
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee field inspection activities and safety planning.
  • Conduct rope access or specialized inspections as required.
  • Document findings with field notes, measurements, photos, and sketches.
  • Prepare inspection reports with condition ratings and recommendations.
  • Interpret plans, load ratings, and prior data to inform strategies.
  • Ensure safety protocols and traffic control compliance.
  • Collaborate with engineers, PMs, and CAD staff for project delivery.
  • Mentor junior inspectors and provide technical guidance.
  • Engage with clients to communicate results and recommendations.
  • Uphold company policies and ethical standards.
