Job summary

Serco Inc. seeks an Experienced Marine Electrician to support U.S. Navy shipboard electrical installations in Norfolk, VA, with possible work in Chesapeake, Newport News and Portsmouth.

You will fabricate and assemble electromechanical and electronic assemblies on U.S. Naval Ships, applying safety standards and QA procedures. Ideal candidates have 5+ years of electrical and shipboard experience, a DoD Secret clearance eligibility, and ability to work in high-heat areas aboard ships.

Qualifications

• Must obtain and maintain active DoD Secret Clearance.
• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 5 years electrical work experience in a related field.
• 5 years of shipboard experience or equivalent.
• Must obtain/maintain DoD Secret Clearance post-employment.
• Must pass background check and drug screening; shipyard access.
• OSHA 10 certification preferred.
• Ability to wear PPE and respirator in hot shipboard spaces.
• Travel up to 10% to various work sites.
• On-site in Chesapeake, VA with travel to Newport News, VA.

Responsibilities

• Receive instructions and perform work independently; review for technical conformity.
• Conduct tests or experiments; set up test procedures and record data.
• Construct components, subunits, or simple models; adapt equipment.
• Gather and maintain engineering data; compute and plot results.
• Perform routine tests and operate test equipment; document data.
• Plan and accomplish goals with supervision in a safe environment.
