Job summary

THOR Solutions, LLC seeks a Senior Naval Architect to support USCG Ship Design Team at USCG Headquarters in Washington, DC. The role requires extensive naval architecture experience, knowledge of US ship design rules, and the ability to coordinate technical papers and TIMs.

Full-time onsite with potential hybrid after probation; travel up to 10%. Eligibility for Secret clearance and US citizenship are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture (or related ABET-accredited field).
• At least six years of naval architecture experience with hull design, stability and structures.
• Experience with naval architecture software for complex hull problems.
• Knowledge of USN/USCG/IACS rules and regulations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical assessments of shipbuilder design deliverables.
• Support HM&E and Auxiliary systems specifications development.
• Support TIMs and capture action items.
• Coordinate technical papers, studies and reports on emerging issues.
• Develop technical responses to contractor questions.
• Interface with USCG SDT and other Technical Authorities.
• Analyze third-party validation reports and make recommendations.
• Provide support on hull form, stability, weights, structures, propulsion.
• Assist updating System Specification, SOW, CDRLs and Indicative Design.
